Reading RGV’s writings is like reading a karmic discourse of some spiritual guru. And yet as we all know, RGV can rarely be equated to people who have a spiritual bent of mind. The straight-speaking director – in a recent column – revealed that two of his best commercial successes “Rangeela” and “Satya” emerged from one of his worst ever commercial failure – the Nagarjuna – Urmila starrer “Drohi.” He goes on to add that he signed Urmila only because Madhuri’s dates were not available.
However in Drohi he was mesmerized by one particular dance move that Urmila performed and on seeing that energy he sketched the core theme of Rangeela. Similarly from the core story of Drohi of a gangster falling in love with an ordinary woman, he sketched the story of Satya, which he points out has a similar storyline.
The ace director went on to explain that whenever he expected nothing, he has been showered with everything. He took a dig at directors and heroes who have a tendency to avoid taking decisive action. And said that decisions must be taken irrespective of outcomes, as they seldom are in our hand.
