“I have been shooting in a remote place in Manali for the past one week for my heroine-centric Telugu film. My friends just messaged me about the uproar in Chennai. I am basically an NRI and born and brought up in Australia before K. Balachandar sir introduced me in his film Poi. So, I honestly do not know anything about the history of dams in India. When the script was narrated to me by director Sohan Roy, I viewed it only from the cinematic perspective. I am sure there was no intention of hurting the sentiments of Tamils.” said Vimala.
Vimala plays Meera, a Malayali girl living in a village near the dam and her romance with Vinay Rai forms the main story of the movie.According to her it's a true story about the disaster caused in 1975 by a dam at Banqiuo, in China.
