Pawan Kalyan's Panjaa is released all over the world amidst huge expectations.Along with a brand new look, he looked energetic and more confident in first look theatricals.He chose Stylish Director,Billa(Tamil)Fame,to direct the movie.Inspite of a decent performance and soulful presentation, Theenmar could not do huge business at the box office.Pawan is yet to see a blockbuster after Khushi.He paired up with Sarah Jane and Anjali in this movie.Yuvan's music is already ruling the chartbusters.Lets quickly analyse whether Panjaa could provide much needed blockbuster for Pawan Kalyan.
Story: Jai(Pawan Kalyan),who lost his family, is picked up by a local goon Bhagavan (Jackie Shroff) who later becomes the biggest don in Kolkata. Jai is groomed as shadow of Bhagavan. Munna(Adivi Sesh) is son of Baghavan, comes to Kolkata. Jai falls in love with Sandhya(Sarah). Sandhya leaves to her village. Jai kills Munna and leaves Kolkata to meet Sandhya. What happens between Baghavan and Jai forms the rest of the story.
Pawan Kalyan: Pawan Kalyan's role is similar to his role in Balu. I am afraid to say Pawan Kalyan is not in his elements in this movie. So much was promised about his dances, but he disappoints yet again.He never looked fluent in dances in Paparayudu song.His trademark was missing in fights too. He did well in the scene where he enacts Chiranjeevi's pose. He showed new energy while acting in love scenes. One wonders how Pawan Kalyan accepted this script which is similar to Balu. Pawan Kalyan should stop believing in Tamil directors.
Heroines: Sarah Jane is very refreshing. Though It's her first movie, she acted with tremendous ease. She has got good screen presence. Anjali Lavania donned the role of club dancer. She did ok.
Others:Ali did his part to create some laughter in the first half. Brahmanandam is decent. Subbaraju was adequate as guy who helps Pawan Kalyan. Tanikella Bharani is usual.Jackie Shroff was loud. Adivi Sesh did excellent job in a character with negative shades.
Direction: Vishnuvardhan, who is debuting in Tollywood, shatters all the hopes of Pawan Kalyan fans. Director has got all the elements wrong. To tell the story, which has got nothing, in an intensive way, he forgets about entertainment. Movie is narrated at a very slow pace. Screenplay is straightforward.
