Lifting stories and scenes from Hollywood is not new to Indian films. We often come across such copycat activities, but rarely does a filmmaker admits he has done so deliberately. But, Ace director AR Murugadoss proves he is different!
A poster of Vijay and Kajal starrer Tupaki has a striking resemble with the Hollywood film 'An Officer and A Gentleman' which was released way back in 1982. In the original, Richard Gere in a Navy outfit lifts actress Debra Winger in his arms. And in 2012, a film titled Tupaki copies it to perfection.
When quizzed about the close resemblance of both the posters, Murugadoss replied,"If we admire something, it subconsciously finds a place in our memory and that reflects in our work. The same thing happened here too".
The story of Tupaki is about an Army Jawan who was on a mission to take on the baddies. The film will be out on Nov 9th as Diwali special, so wait till then to know if Murugadoss copied just a poster or the scenes too! Inspiration is quite different from Plagiarism!!!
